The conversion of bio-based xylitol to ethylene glycol (EG) and propylene (PG) was studied replace the petrochemical production route achieve a sustainable process. reaction network for aqueous-phase catalytic hydrogenolysis over supported Pt catalyst with Ca(OH)2 as promotor identified kinetics determined. effects conditions such educt concentration, H2 pressure, temperature were investigated. With developed kinetic model, composition product mixture regarding desired products (EG, PG) by-products can be described. maximum EG yield achieved at high pressure low temperature, while favored PG production.
